Der Koenigsegg ist ein Supersportwagen und wird vom schwedischen Fahrzeughersteller Koenigsegg in verschiedenen Varianten produziert.
Der Koenigsegg CC8S löste den McLaren F1 mit 388 km/h als schnellstes straßenzugelassenes Serienfahrzeug im Guinness-Buch der Rekorde ab. Der Koenigsegg CCR war Anfang 2005 offiziell mit einer Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 390 km/h das schnellste straßenzugelassene Auto der Welt. Dieser Rekord wurde auf der kreisrunden Pista di Nardò in Italien aufgestellt. Koenigsegg betont, es seien auch noch 395 km/h möglich. Ab August 2005 hielt der Bugatti Veyron 16.4 mit 407,5 km/h den Rekord. Am 13. September 2007 stellte sich der SSC Ultimate Aero TT einem offiziellen Guinness-Buch der Rekorde-Geschwindigkeitstest und erreichte als neuen Rekord 411,76 km/h (absolute Spitze: 413,83 km/h). Im offiziellen Zertifikat sind 412 km/h als Höchstgeschwindigkeit vermerkt.
Der Koenigsegg CC8S schnitt bei einem Crashtest im schwedischen Autoliv-Crash-Test-Center trotz seiner Leichtbauweise als eines der sichersten aller je dort getesteten Fahrzeuge ab.
Außerdem hält er Gerüchten zufolge den Rekord für die größte Geschwindigkeitsübertretung, die jemals verfolgt wurde. Das Fahrzeug soll 2003 während des Gumball 3000-Rennens in Texas mit 242 mph (ca. 389 km/h) in einer 75-mph-Zone (ca. 120 km/h) gemessen worden sein.
Die Koenigsegg-Fahrzeuge besitzen ein Karbonfaser-Chassis, einen Stahlrahmen im Frontbereich sowie einen Aluminium-Rahmen im Heck. Die gesamte Karosserie besteht aus Kohlefaser.

Die Karosserien des CC8S und des CCR unterscheiden sich nur in Details voneinander. Die Unterschiede liegen hauptsächlich im Bereich der Rückleuchten und der Scheinwerfer. Das Fahrzeug verfügt über ein sogenanntes Targadach, welches herausgenommen und im 120 Liter großen Gepäckraum untergebracht werden kann. Die Türen sind eine Mischung aus normalen Fahrzeugtüren und Scherentüren. Sie entfernen sich beim Öffnen zuerst von der Karosserie und schwenken dann senkrecht nach oben, stehen somit in geöffnetem Zustand senkrecht hinter den Vorderrädern.
Der cw-Wert der Karosserie liegt bei 0,297, die Stirnfläche beträgt 1,825 Quadratmeter.
Interessant ist die von Koenigsegg gewährte zehnjährige Garantie auf Durchrostungen, weil es an diesem Fahrzeug aufgrund der verwendeten Materialien kaum ein Teil gibt, das rosten könnte.
Die Karbonfasersitze verfügen über Bezüge aus Leder, Alcantara und sind mit dem von der NASA entwickelten Werkstoff Tempur gepolstert, der sich der Körperform anpasst.
Der Motor des Koenigsegg CC8S basiert auf einem 4,7-Liter-V8-Rennmotor von Ford und wird durch Kompressoraufladung in der Leistung gesteigert. Der Motor des Koenigsegg CCR und CCX entstand unter Eigenregie, hatte jedoch die gleichen Daten wie der Fordmotor, mit der Ausnahme, dass dieser von zwei Kompressoren aufgeladen wurde. Durch Verwendung von Aluminiumlegierungen aus der Luftfahrt sowie der Werkstoffe Titan und Karbonfaser konnte das Motorgewicht auf 210 kg reduziert werden (CCR: 215 kg).

Der Motor des CCXR ist zur Verwendung von Ethanol als Kraftstoff ausgelegt und erreicht damit höhere Leistungsdaten als der nahezu identische CCX.
Der Koenigsegg wurde serienmäßig mit einem manuellen Sechsgang-Transaxle-Getriebe von Cima ausgestattet (nur nach der Definition im englischen Sprachraum ein Transaxle-Getriebe). Als Extra ist eine sequentielle Schaltmechanik erhältlich. Allerdings ist auf der Koenigsegg-Seite mittlerweile das sequenzielle Getriebe (F1 Gearbox) als Standard angegeben.
Trotz vieler Extras bewegt sich der Wagen auf dem Gewichtsniveau eines Pagani Zonda oder Saleen S7. Der Ferrari Enzo oder auch der Porsche Carrera GT sind ca. 100 kg schwerer.
2008 wurde das auf sechs Fahrzeuge limitierte Model CCXR Edition vorgestellt. Besitzer des CCX-Modells haben die Möglichkeit, ihr Fahrzeug auf CCXR umrüsten zu lassen.
